About Kathleen Thomas
Kathleen Thomas is a DONA Certified Doula (Birthing coach).
Kathleen has eighteen years’ experience with prenatal care and coaching birthing women. She has worked with over hundreds of women and their families.
Kathleen gratefully works in the North and East Bay Birthing centers. She will do her best to accommodate her clients at the birthing centers that they choose.
Since 1999 Kathleen has worked at Kaiser Permanente ob/gyn. Kathleen’s experience includes working with peri neonate MDs. and Kaiser’s prenatal high-risk team. Part of this team Kathleen has experience with gestational diabetes and high blood pressure. Kathleen understands and respects the seriousness of stillbirth. She can recognize arrest of active labor and decreased fetal heart rate. Because of her skills, she can communicate between you and the birth team. Kathleen works naturally and reactively with all providers and the birthing team.
Kathleen has experience working with women who have had traumatic childbirths. She is skilled and capable of gracefully caring for moms with trauma. Kathleen’s passion and desire is to bring about beautiful and loving memories for the birthing mom.
All in all, doulas decrease cesarean births. They decrease the length of labor and decrease negative/traumatic childbirth. Kathleen offers continuous physical and emotional support for both mother and partner. She helps mothers recognize their own strengths and confidence with their own decisions about how their labor should go. Kathleen will be passionate about bringing moms beautiful loving births.
